LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Seventh annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Gene Wilson Runs 6.876/202.15, Now #1
Right Lane: Todd Hoerner Runs 13.366/63.78, Now #2

1:36 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 84 degrees, relative humidity 16 percent, barometer 27.80 inches, adjusted altitude 4,243 feet, track temperature 104 degrees.

Wilson spun the tires a little off the line but still makes a decent pass. Hoerner had problems about 200 feet out and backed off the throttle.

Left Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.912/202.09, Now #2
Right Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 12.329/70.10, Now #3

Rivera has problems off the line and has to click it off. Hartford makes a decent pass.

Left Lane: Bill Glidden Runs 7.093/171.64, Now #4
Right Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.874/200.26, Now #1

Glidden has problems late in the run and slows. Watson makes a clean pass to take the pole for now.

Left Lane: Bob Panella Runs 6.866/201.22, Now #1
Right Lane: Craig Hankinson Runs 6.885/202.03, Now #4

Panella moves around a little off the line but still makes a decent run. No problems for Hankinson.

Left Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 14.460/43.20, Now #10
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.793/203.28, Now #1

Hammonds comes off the line, makes a move toward the center-line, then has to abort the run. Krisher goes right down the groove to get in the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 6.750/204.05, Now #1
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.832/200.08, Now #3

Humphreys has the first sub one second 60 foot time and he takes the top spot for now. Edwards makes a decent pass.

Left Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.851/201.16, Now #5
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.841/200.71, Now #4

A couple of clean runs, both right down the groove.

Left Lane: Max Naylor Runs 6.788/201.04, Now #2
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.898/202.27, Now #11

Naylor makes a good pass and puts the Stratus into the second spot. Yates has a slow 1.06 60 foot time.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.807/202.48, Now #5
Right Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.788/203.00, Now #2

A couple of decent passes, Stevens moves into the second spot, Gaines in fifth.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 9.104/104.05, Now #17
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.844/202.06, Now #8

Johnson has problems around half-track and backs off the throttle. Morgan makes a decent pass and gets in the 8th spot for now.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.792/203.52, Now #4
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.847/202.82, Now #10

Johnson makes a move to the right off the line but hangs on for a decent pass. Line goes right down the groove to get in the fourth spot for now.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.800/203.43, Now #7
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.796/203.52, Now #6

A couple of countdown cars, both make decent passes and get in the top half of the field. Gene Wilson is on the bump spot at 6.876.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.766/203.92, Now #2
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.790/204.08, Now #5

Anderson said the car bogged a little off the line but he still gets in the second spot. Connolly was a little slower to sixty-foot and fell back but still gets in the top half of the field.

That ends this session with Humphreys on the pole and Bob Panella is on the bump spot at 6.866.
