ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car at the 2007 Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series, Universal Technical Institute World Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: John Smith Runs 5.962/216.24, Now #1
Right Lane: Rhonda Hartman-Smtih No Time, Now #2

Rhonda's Charger is shut off after the burnout. Smith makes a clean and straight pass with a nice five second run. He tells the top end announcer that the blower belt came off before the lights.

Left Lane: Ray Murphy No Time, Now #3
Right Lane: Richard Hartman Runs 7.385/135.00, Now #1

We have a brief delay to get the Charger out of the way, clean up the track at the 300 foot mark, and get the next pair staged

7:45 p.m. ...and the call goes out to start the engines. Weird in and out burnout for Murphy. Both cars do "chirpies" moving up to stage. Murphy's car has problems and doesn't stage. Hartman leaves with a 1.108 sixty foot time and runs to about the 1000 foot lights and clicks it early.
