POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Fred Camarena Runs 7.269/187.26, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.350/182.08, Was #19
Right Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.428/175.64, Now #21; Best prior run: 19.540/29.96, Was #24

10:47 AM Current weather conditions: 60 degrees, 62 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.10 inches and falling. Camarena is in the show for the moment. Harris will need the final session.

Left Lane: Kurt Matte Runs 7.743/168.18, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.730/169.10, Was #24
Right Lane: Blaine Hale No Time, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.334/180.86, Was #19

No help for Matte and Hale breaks right on the starting line.

Left Lane: Michael Lozano Runs 7.562/178.33, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.665/165.42, Was #23
Right Lane: Josh Helvie Runs 7.330/181.64, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.415/175.84, Was #20

Another pair that will need the last session.

Left Lane: Keith Freeman Runs 7.374/179.66, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.479/177.39, Was #22
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.218/182.40, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.300/180.98, Was #16

Stoffer comes in on the bump and looks to pick it up. Freeman is not qualified. Stoffer is off the bump but Freeman is still hunting for the setup.

Left Lane: Jay Matthews Runs 7.383/187.42, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.311/181.35, Was #18
Right Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.307/180.55, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.306/182.11, Was #17

Schnitz comes really close but can't crack the field and neither can Matthews.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.166/191.27, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.281/180.45, Was #16
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.289/183.54, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.248/182.85, Was #14

Phillips makes a huge move from the bump all the way to #5. DeSantis gets no help.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.075/192.47, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.119/181.91, Was #2
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 17.866/40.25, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.188/185.46, Was #9

Oh, does Treble love this bike? All the way to the top of the show. Berry has problems and has to click it off.

Left Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.164/191.81, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.197/181.32, Was #11
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.173/185.28, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.214/184.98, Was #13

A pair of good runs puts the riders in the top half.

Left Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.175/186.61, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.192/184.22, Was #12
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.209/185.89, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.213/184.50, Was #13

Showers improves but can't make the top half. Brown picks up slightly but stays #13.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.181/189.15, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.136/186.02, Was #3
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.182/182.67, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.185/186.43, Was #11

Almost identical numbers for the pair.

Left Lane: Sean Conner Runs 7.194/190.08, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.173/186.33, Was #7
Right Lane: Fred Collis Runs 7.161/185.33, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.181/186.15, Was #10

Conner gets no help from this hit but Collis is now a top half rider.

Left Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.120/192.11, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.144/183.29, Was #4
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.097/189.02, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.108/187.63, Was #2

Final pair is in the water. Angelle actually moves up one spot. Scali improves but remains #2 going into the final session.
