POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.467/176.40, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.428/175.64, Was #22
Right Lane: Kurt Matte No Time, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.730/169.10, Was #24

2:39 PM Harris gets a single as Matte can't get the bike started. Harris can't crack the tough show.

Left Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.462/182.58, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.334/180.86, Was #20
Right Lane: Michael Lozano Runs 12.981/59.24, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.562/178.33, Was #23

Lozano sat up on the bike before 330 and he's going home. Hale fails to make the show and will be packing the trailer as well.

Left Lane: Josh Helvie Runs 7.328/178.10, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.330/181.64, Was #19
Right Lane: Keith Freeman Runs 7.394/176.05, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.374/179.66, Was #21

No help for either rider in the final session.

Left Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.488/178.97, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.306/182.11, Was #17
Right Lane: Jay Matthews Runs 7.634/168.81, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.311/181.35, Was #18

Schnitz is #17 and stays that way after his final pass. Matthews has problems and he's going home as well.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.349/180.98, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.248/182.85, Was #15
Right Lane: Fred Camarena Runs 7.359/176.67, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.269/187.26, Was #16

The field is set coming into this pair so from here on out we'll be shuffling the field. Both riders are off on this run by about a tenth.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.281/181.18, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.218/182.40, Was #14
Right Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.276/181.79, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.175/186.61, Was #10

It's a little bit warmer but I don't think that accounts for the missing tenth of a second. The wind has changed as well.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.290/187.13, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.209/185.89, Was #13
Right Lane: Sean Conner Runs 7.296/181.35, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.173/186.33, Was #8

No help from here either.

Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.195/186.69, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.166/191.27, Was #7

A little bit closer but still off the pace.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.256/184.42, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.182/182.67, Was #11
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.183/184.17, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.164/191.81, Was #6

I'm not going to say it again.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.295/185.36, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.173/185.28, Was #9
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.165/180.40, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.136/186.02, Was #4

Hines is only off by .03 but Johnson gets the full tenth plus.

Left Lane: Fred Collis Runs 11.643/68.34, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.161/185.33, Was #5
Right Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.168/183.34, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.120/192.11, Was #3

Collis appeared to miss a shift and was leaning hard left to keep the bike in the lane. Savoie is consistent.

Left Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.142/191.24, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.097/189.02, Was #2
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.180/185.31, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.075/192.47, Was #1

Not the most spectacular session for the bikes but the numbers are very consistent. We'll see what the conditions are like for the Pro Stock cars as they are up next.
