ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 22st annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Clint Thompson Runs 5.753/252.76, Now #7; Best prior run: 17.229/58.60, Was #25
Thompson with nice pass to get into the top half of the show.
Left Lane: Sean O'Bannon Runs 12.182/84.22, Now #25; Best prior run: 12.405/76.22, Was #24
Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.737/251.25, Now #6; Best prior run: 14.796/65.05, Was #25
O'Bannon shook and shut it off. Bellemeur with a real nice pass to get into the top half of the show and that will bump out Patton.
Left Lane: Steve Harker Runs 5.811/249.81, Now #13; Best prior run: 8.827/99.19, Was #24
Right Lane: Von Smith Runs 5.634/254.90, Now #1; Best prior run: 8.421/103.32, Was #22
Smith launched hard and drove right down the groove and to the number one spot. Harker gets into the show. These two bump out Taylor and Bateman.
Left Lane: Alexis De Joria Runs 6.040/247.34, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.778/126.44, Was #23
Right Lane: Paul Crifasi Runs 6.232/173.14, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.189/228.27, Was #22
Left Lane: Ron Morrison No Time, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.154/236.05, Was #22
Right Lane: Dennis Taylor Runs 5.691/254.86, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.877/208.97, Was #17
Morrison broke on the burnout...Taylor with a nice pass to get into the top half of the show. That will bump out Burck.
Left Lane: Nancy Matter Runs 5.981/244.78, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.124/246.75, Was #21
Right Lane: Steve Burck Runs 5.994/244.69, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.872/248.02, Was #17
No help here for Burck...Matter improves, but not enough to get into the show.
Left Lane: Roger Bateman Runs 5.819/251.06, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.038/245.00, Was #19
Right Lane: Keeter Ray Runs 5.764/252.47, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.857/248.66, Was #16
Ray with a nice pass to get off the bubble. Bateman gets into the show and that bumps out Bell.
Left Lane: Cy Chesterman Runs 5.698/256.60, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.749/254.57, Was #9
Right Lane: Mike Bell Runs 5.779/250.00, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.845/247.20, Was #17
Chesterman with a real nice pass to get into the top half of the show. Bell who just got bumped out, gets back into the show. He bumps out Bateman.
Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.667/255.34, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.730/257.09, Was #8
Right Lane: Lee Callaway Runs 5.794/249.12, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.785/250.04, Was #15
Pane with a real nice pass to move up to the number four spot. Callaway with another good looking pass, but doesn't improve on his career best pass earlier today.
Left Lane: Paul Anderson Runs 5.681/252.38, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.676/253.37, Was #5
Right Lane: Mick Snyder Runs 5.772/247.43, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.761/246.75, Was #11
A couple more good passes, but neither driver improves.
Left Lane: Jimmy Jones Runs 5.649/255.34, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.652/257.38, Was #3
Right Lane: Kebin Kinsley Runs 5.762/251.77, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.703/253.47, Was #8
Jones with a real nice pass, but will stay number three. No help for Kinsley.
Left Lane: Bob Newberry Runs 5.644/255.82, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.645/256.70, Was #2
Newberry improves, but stays number two.
