POMONA, Calif. -- Special awards from the 39th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals.

Best Appearing Car – Dave Smith Motors Top Alcohol Dragster entry. Driver: Mike Cofini, Spokane, Wash.

Best Appearing Crew – KISS-themed ACDelco Chevrolet Cavalier Pro Stock entry. Driver: Kurt Johnson, Lawrenceville, Ga.

Hedman Hedders Best Engineered Vehicle ($1,000 to the best engineered vehicle) – Worthy Jewelry Factory Super Gas entry. Driver: Darryl Mitchell, Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Budweiser Shootout At Pomona Award ($4,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel) – Tony Schumacher, Long Grove, Ill., U.S. Army dragster, 4.455 seconds, 332.10 mph.

Budweiser Shootout At Indianapolis Award ($4,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Funny Car) – Tony Pedregon, Chino Hills, Calif., Castrol Syntec Ford Mustang, 4.721 seconds, 326.79 mph.

NHRA King Demon Crown Award ($3,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock) – Greg Anderson, Concord, N.C., Vegas General Const. Pontiac Grand Am, 6.733 seconds, 205.51 mph.

K&N Filters Pro Bike Klash ($1,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock Bike) – Craig Treble, Chandler, Ariz., Matco Tools Suzuki, 7.075 seconds, 192.47 mph.

Motel 6 “Who Got the Light” Award ($1,000 to the individual Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock driver who earns a round win in eliminations by the narrowest margin.) – Del Worsham defeated Tim Wilkerson by .0034-of-a-second margin of victory in the semifinal round Funny Car eliminations.

Motel 6 “Who Got the Light” Season Award ($25,000 to the individual Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock driver throughout the entire season who earned a single round win in eliminations by the narrowest margin.) – Scott Geoffrion defeated Warren Johnson by .0002-of-a-second margin of victory at the Houston event.

Strange Engineering “Perfectly Strange” Performance Award ($250 bonus to the first racer in Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street who wins an elimination round by running dead-on their dial-in or index) –Bill Kost, Stock.
