8:23 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 40 percent, barometer 29.16 inches, adjusted altitude 2,688 feet, track temperature 101 degrees. The announcer says that three cars may be able to back up their National Record.

Rado drives through the lights before the tree is activated. The announcer say that Hunt sets the new ET record.

Ladwig can't get the engine started and is pushed off the track. Bergenholtz picks up a ton over his prior best.

Jimenez gets the advantage off the line and watches Gardella drive by before sixty feet. Gardella makes a strong run, but misses backing up the record.
