66 Greg Tacke 63 Brandon Johnson
E1 0.392 5.499 258.07 ****WINNER**** 0.090 5.384 258.47
 Qualified: #17 5.646 227.31 #7 5.342 266.79
This is Brandon Johnson's first race running the potent yellow fuel. He has asked us to be sure and thank Duane Shields and Dana Hopewell for all of their help in getting them down the track and qualifying in the top half of the stout TAD field. He does his part at the hit and is away quickly well in front of Tacke [Alternate for Whiteley]. Tacke runs much better than he qualified, but was still no match for the quickly disappearing Johnson.

176 Jeff Veale 7438 Morgan Lucas
E1 0.156 5.551 253.42 ****WINNER**** 0.076 5.263 274.16

Lucas' car moves a little near mid-track, but he still has a major advantage down the track. Veale improves, but has to follow him all the way. Lucas will have lane choice in round two.

79 Jeff Isbell 777 Mark Niver
E1 0.042 17.680 44.29 ****WINNER**** 0.073 6.342 194.58

First or worst? Isbell strikes the tires at the hit and has to watch Niver get in and out of the throttle several times getting his beast to the finish line.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
7402 Randy Eakins 4 Duane Shields
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.117 5.556 235.89 0.101 5.675 264.86
 Qualified: #15 5.569 239.02 #2 5.240 269.83
Looks like they couldn't decide who was going to leave first. Two bad lights and Shields slows a bunch from yesterday. Eakins runs better than he qualified, but will give lane choice to Johnson tomorrow.

7000 Darryl Hitchman 7310 Chris Perl
E1 0.078 5.753 235.93 ****WINNER**** 0.061 5.750 261.32

Another close race, but Hitchman was losing cylinders going down the track to boot. Chris Perl's MOV: 0.0205 seconds (approximately 7 feet).

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
62 Garrett Bateman 44 Brandon Pierce
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.083 5.534 248.93 0.049 6.166 172.19
 Qualified: #11 5.397 258.86 #6 5.333 250.32
Last pair! Whoa baby! Pierce is away first and well ahead of Bateman when the front wheels go for the sky! The car climbs and climbs and bottoms out on the wheely bars. The front end bangs down and then goes back up again before he gives up. The front wheels are canted in at their tops big time, as the car coasts on down the track. Bateman's run is no jewel, but he takes the easy win and will have lane choice over Perl in round two.
