TALLMADGE, Ohio -- Summit Racing Equipment, the world's largest direct mail and Internet supplier of high performance auto parts, has signed a multi-year agreement with NHRA to become title sponsor of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event at the NHRA's newest venue, Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.

The inaugural Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals will take place June 28, through July 1, at the Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. It's the 12th event on NHRA's 23-race POWERade Series schedule and the first-ever POWERade Series event at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park, located just over an hour from Summit Racing Equipment's headquarters.

"Our decision to get involved with the new NHRA race at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park was a no-brainer, especially since the track is so close to our headquarters," Kirk Heinbuch, Summit Racing Equipment Manager of Motorsports and Events, said. "We look forward to putting on a great show for customers, employees, and race fans from throughout the region."

The Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals will be televised on ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD as teams jockey for position in the NHRA's new Countdown to the Championship format. The event also has the potential to become one of the hottest selling tickets on the POWERade Series circuit.

"Norwalk Raceway Park had a reputation as one of the premiere drag racing facilities in the country," Heinbuch said. "The track's location between three major markets-Cleveland, Detroit, and Columbus-and its current four million dollar expansion project gives the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals the potential to be one of the biggest draws on the circuit."
