POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Pro RWD at the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Sixth Annual Nitto Tire NHRA Sport Compact World Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Abel Ibarra No Time, Now #4; Best prior run: 11.556/86.73, Was #4
Right Lane: Gary Lee White Runs 7.475/143.57, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.929/188.36, Was #3

After the burnout Ibarra appeared to be staging the car when he suddenly backed out of the beams and hit one of Matt Scranton's team members. Luckily he was able to move out of the way before getting run over.

White lifted early after getting very close to the centerline.

Right Lane: Brad Personett Runs 6.570/216.13, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.656/215.17, Was #2

Major bragging rights were at stake, there was a bit of a staging "duel" here...

Both drivers left before the green, Personett was quickest, Scranton got to the line first. It should be very interesting tomorrow.

That's it for 2006 qualifying! Just eliminations remain.
