Funny Car Round 3 Eliminations

MOHNTON, Pa. - Results of round 3 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals:

2:42 p.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 29.42 inches, adjusted altitude 874 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.

Scelzi had a better start by 0.004 seconds but fell behind at 60 feet. He got the lead back at the 330-foot marker and pulled 0.023 seconds ahead at mid track. Pedregon started to close the gap and was only 0.014 seconds behind at 1,000 feet but he ran out of room and Scelzi got the win and a spot in the final round.

Worsham launched first and then smoked the tires. he clicked it off and coasted the rest of the way down the track. Force had a good lap for the win and will have lane choice over Scelzi in the final round. If Scelzi wins the final round, both he and Worsham will still be alive in the championship points race, albeit by a very slim margin. If Force wins, he clinches.
