By Darryl Jackman

SONOMA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 19th annual FRAM-Autolite NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Scott Lewis Runs 7.136/184.19, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.288/179.54, Was #19
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.259/185.69, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.317/182.13, Was #20

2:44 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 54 percent, barometer 30.14 inches, adjusted altitude 1,293 feet, track temperature 124 degrees.

Scott lewis shocks everyone but...Scott Lewis. He runs a career best and a tenth nd a half better than the rest of his runs. That bumps Berry and puts Phillips on the bubble.

Left Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.083/187.03, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.214/183.47, Was #18
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.240/181.89, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.221/186.98, Was #19

Guidera puts Phillips out and Lewis is back on the bump. DeSantis will be putting it in the box.

Left Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 7.081/187.57, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.121/186.43, Was #15
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.096/189.18, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.208/185.77, Was #18

Berry repays the favor and out goes Lewis. From the penthouse to the outhouse in about five minutes. Tonglet is on the bump.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.072/190.06, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.080/188.44, Was #11
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.124/191.00, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.168/188.96, Was #18

And the hits just keep coming. Johnson picks up but remains #11. Phillips will be going home early.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.032/192.96, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.066/189.44, Was #10
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.094/189.82, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.104/189.82, Was #16

There is is. The quickest field in PSB history! Tonglet's 7.094 is only good for #15. Treble is top half of the show and everyone is going quicker.

Left Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.025/190.81, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.061/189.39, Was #10
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.112/190.75, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.082/189.98, Was #13

Stoffer will kick herself. She's about the only bike that has slowed in this session. Schnitz is up five spots on that pass.

Left Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.018/192.22, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.044/190.57, Was #10
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.055/191.24, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.042/191.65, Was #9

Scali gets close to that six as does Gann.

Left Lane: Tom Bradford Runs 6.981/192.00, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.038/191.13, Was #9
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.015/190.70, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.034/188.12, Was #8

Say hi to our newest six second club member, Tom Bradford. Smith just misses on his Buell.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.000/192.52, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.981/191.54, Was #3
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.054/189.31, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.021/188.57, Was #7

Sampey must wonder what happened to her bike. She slows to a 7.054 and Brown can 'only' muster a 7.000.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.026/191.10, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.974/191.48, Was #1
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 6.998/191.67, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.013/189.84, Was #4

Ellis is in the six second area again and Hines closes the session with a 7.026. We end this madness with Andrew Hines on the pole at 6.974 and Mike Berry in the bump at 7.096. The previous quickest bike field was this year at E-Town and the bump was 7.106. What a final session.
