SONOMA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 19th annual FRAM-Autolite NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Dave Northrop Runs 6.721/205.04, Now #8; No Prior Run
Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 30.05 inches,adjusted altitude 941 feet, track temperature 99 degrees. There is a strong head wind. We start with Jim Yates is on the bump spot at 6.756. Northrop with a nice pass to get into the top half of the show and that puts Mark Pawuk is on the bump spot at 6.749.
Left Lane: Shaun Carlson Runs 7.986/124.78, Now #23; Best prior run: 10.192/88.92, Was #23
Right Lane: Max Naylor Runs 6.715/205.29, Now #5; Best prior run: 9.624/97.01, Was #22
Carlson with a quick 60-foot time and then got real loose around half track. Naylor with a real nice pass to get in the show. Dave Connolly is on the bump spot at 6.749.
Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.762/203.34, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.843/203.34, Was #22
Right Lane: Tony Rizzo Runs 8.821/125.16, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.831/203.16, Was #21
Rizzo with a lot of problems early and clicked it off. Watson improves, but not enough to get into the show.
Left Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.708/205.41, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.749/204.79, Was #17
Right Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 6.714/205.04, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.775/203.86, Was #21
Pawuk with a good clean pass right into the top half of the show. Mark Pawuk's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.794, 660ft-4.308/162.41mph, 1,000ft-5.611 Thomas was just a tick behind him for the number five spot. Mike Thomas' incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.797, 660ft-4.311/162.18mph, 1,000ft-5.614 Erica Enders is on the bump spot at 6.730.
Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 10.189/87.02, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.749/204.91, Was #18
Right Lane: Tom Lee Runs 6.728/205.98, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.767/205.72, Was #21
Connolly with problems early in the run and clicked it off and he will go into Saturday not qualified. Lee gets into the show and that bumps out Enders and puts Mike Edwards is on the bump spot at 6.730.
Left Lane: Tom Martino Runs 6.678/206.86, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.742/205.22, Was #18
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.679/205.72, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.756/205.44, Was #20
This was a great drag race for the number one and two spots. Martino with a career best mph here. Tom Martino's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.792, 660ft-4.295/163.75mph, 1,000ft-5.589
Jim Yates' incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.782, 660ft-4.288/163.14mph, 1,000ft-5.586
Left Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.692/205.76, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.724/205.72, Was #15
Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.724/204.82, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.730/205.04, Was #19
Stevens goes into the top half of the field with a real nice pass. Richie Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.796, 660ft-4.301/163.63mph, 1,000ft-5.598 Enders gets into the show but only on the bubble.
Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.709/206.64, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.724/206.51, Was #15
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.680/206.23, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.730/206.32, Was #19
WJ moves up the ladder and Edwards gets back into the show into the top half of the field. That bumps out Enders and puts Dave Northrop is on the bump spot at 6.721.
Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.666/206.51, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.717/205.57, Was #14
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.692/206.42, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.725/206.04, Was #18
Stanfield with a great pass to go the number one spot. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.282/163.79mph, 1,000ft-5.576 Krisher gets back into the show into the half of the field and that bumps out Northrop and puts Larry Morgan is on the bump spot at 6.718.
Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.656/207.02, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.716/206.67, Was #15
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.688/205.76, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.718/206.10, Was #16
Line goes to the number one spot with a great pass. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.778, 660ft-4.275/164.47mph, 1,000ft-5.566 Morgan gets off the bubble and into the top half of the show. Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.790, 660ft-4.295/162.94mph, 1,000ft-5.593
Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.669/206.80, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.715/206.23, Was #15
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.657/207.24, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.705/206.67, Was #11

Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.651/206.86, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.696/206.92, Was #11
A two more great looking passes and Gaines goes back to where he was when the session started. Gaines with a career best E.T. and track record for the number one spot. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.774, 660ft-4.272/164.03mph, 1,000ft-5.563 Johnson with a real nice pass to get into the top half of the show. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.781, 660ft-4.283/163.69mph, 1,000ft-5.577 That wraps up day one for Pro stock with Max Naylor is on the bump spot at 6.715. The third round Pro Stock qualifying will start around 10:30 am tomorrow.
