Surace needed to run -.300 here or in the final qualifying session to get the trophy. He came up short and has one more chance. Barone fell off his pace from yesterday, but still made a nice run.

Massel's Cobalt is the first in the new DD/AT class and had a very soft 1.21 60-foot time yesterday - still ran way under the index. This time it was an even-softer 1.245 short time and his speed was off by 20 mph from yesterday.

Butner had problems yesterday and could not even run his index. He was off the throttle early again, no apparent problems, so he may be playing with us.

Talk about two very different ways to end up in B/Altered Automatic - a '32 Bantam against a '04 Cavalier. Eckard was all over his lane, but Wright was off the throttle before 1,000 feet.
