11:18 a.m. Close at the start, but Castellana steadily pulled away for the win. Mike Castellana's MOV: 0.0413 seconds (approximately 14 feet).

Another even start and Kerunsky led in the middle of the track, but Rowe surged ahead on the top end for the win. Dan Rowe's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(0.022), 330 ft(-0.014), 660ft(-0.010), 1,000ft(0.007). MOV: 0.0228 seconds (approximately 8 feet).

Big holeshot win for Bareman, but he was staged very deeply and Spiering made up most of the difference in the first 60 feet - then could not close the gap. Steve Bareman's incremental margins: 60ft(0.013), 330 ft(0.014), 660ft(0.022), 1,000ft(0.024). MOV: 0.0274 seconds (approximately 9 feet).

Ricky D got a small starting line advantage but shook and gave it all back, and more, before the 330-foot marker. Stott will have lane choice against Castellana next round.

Janis chattered the tires and deifted left, hitting a half-track timing block to DQ his run. Auxier got to the finish loine first anyway an will have lane choice against jenkins next round.

Another close drag race, the two cars never more than a few thousandth apart all the way f=down the track. Kenny Lang's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.002), 330 ft(0.018), 660ft(0.017), 1,000ft(0.004). MOV: 0.0048 seconds (approximately 19 inches). Lang will have lane choice against Rowe in round two.

Cannon blew the tires loose on the launch, pedaled, started spinning them again, pedaled again and pulled it off! Martin had problems on the top end and Cannon ran him down. Scott Cannon's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.025), 330 ft(-0.211), 660ft(-0.120), 1,000ft(-0.058). MOV: 0.0276 seconds (approximately 8 feet). Cannon faces Bareman next round and Bareman has lane choice - but so far the lanes appear to be pretty even.
