MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 21st annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Max Naylor Runs 6.853/200.80, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.858/200.80, Was #25

11:42 a.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 73 degrees, relative humidity 65 percent, barometer 29.83 inches, adjusted altitude 1,313 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.

Naylor is the former owner of Numidia Raceway in Numidia, Pennsylvania. He got a little loose as he made his way down the track but drove through it. He had his quickest pass of the weekend but was not quick enough to make the field.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.774/203.52, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.794/202.97, Was #17
Right Lane: Bill Shorts Runs 7.073/193.65, Now #29; Best prior run: 7.131/192.33, Was #29

Neither driver was in the field when they staged. Stanfield took his car down the groove to move up six spots and make the field for now. Shorts came up short and will have to wait until later for his final qualifying attempt.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.784/203.12, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.786/201.82, Was #15
Right Lane: Jim Cunningham Runs 6.910/199.17, Now #26; Best prior run: 6.993/196.47, Was #27

Cunningham was not in the field, Gaines was sitting in the number 15 spot in the order and could still be bumped. Gaines was quicker than yesterday but dod not move up in the order. Cunningham moved up one spot but is still not in the field.

Left Lane: Val Smeland Runs 7.019/196.19, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.017/195.85, Was #28
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.790/203.55, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.795/203.40, Was #18

Smeland was not quick enough to make the field. Edwards moved up two spots to bump Rickie Smith. He's on the bubble now with a bump time of 6.790 seconds.

Left Lane: John Mahoney Runs 6.975/198.41, Now #27; Best prior run: 6.944/199.29, Was #27
Right Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.792/202.85, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.802/202.67, Was #21

Pawuk moved up three spots in the order but not far enough to make the field. Mahoney also did not make the field. He did not get his car stopped in time at the end of the track and went into the dirt.

Left Lane: Barry Grant Runs 6.825/201.10, Now #24; Best prior run: 6.830/201.10, Was #24
Right Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.803/201.85, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.799/201.91, Was #20

Neither driver was quick enough to make the field.

Left Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.827/202.85, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.824/202.85, Was #23
Right Lane: Dave Northrop Runs 6.781/203.09, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.792/202.64, Was #19

Northrop moved up four spots and into the field. He bumped Mike Edwards and put V. Gaines on the bubble with a bump time of 6.784 seconds.

Left Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.785/202.27, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.813/201.91, Was #22
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.778/203.09, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.777/202.33, Was #14

Koretsky had his quickest run but came short by 0.002 seconds. He's in the number 17 spot now for the 16-car field.

Left Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 6.778/202.79, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.800/202.70, Was #22
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.764/203.71, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.777/202.94, Was #13

Allen made it into the field for now with his quickest run of the three sessions. He bumped Gaines and put Northrop on the bubble. The bump spot is 6.781 seconds. Coughlin was already in the field but moved up five spots.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.748/203.89, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.792/203.19, Was #20
Right Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.769/203.46, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.775/202.97, Was #13

Smith went from the number 20 spot to number two with a nice run down the groove. Steven move up two spots. Bruce Allen is on the bump spot at 6.778 seconds.

Left Lane: Dave Howard Runs 6.793/202.82, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.769/203.37, Was #12
Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.779/204.05, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.771/203.46, Was #13

Neither driver changed their spot in the order with this pair of runs.

Left Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.746/203.61, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.766/203.55, Was #10
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.797/202.18, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.760/203.40, Was #7

Yates moved up eight spots in the number two position with his best run so far.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.744/203.95, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.761/204.35, Was #9
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.755/204.48, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.755/203.74, Was #6

Line had a nice run down the groove to move up seven spots on take over the number two spot for now. Morgan had a nice pass but was not quick enough to change his place in the qualifying order.

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.745/201.37, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.759/204.17, Was #8
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.748/204.23, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.750/203.80, Was #6

Krisher moved up five spots, Johnson one.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 7.014/163.53, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.739/204.54, Was #1
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.736/204.51, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.749/203.74, Was #7

Anderson drifted wide and onto the paint during his burnout. When it counted, he took his GTO right down the groove to move into the top spot in the qualifying order. Johnson shook the tires and had his slowest run of the three sessions.
