CLERMONT, Ind. -- In cooperation with the local Red Cross, NHRA and Indianapolis Raceway Park will help raise money for distraught Americans affected by Hurricane Katrina earlier this week. This weekend, during the 51st annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, the local Red Cross will set up donation buckets around IRP so that fans attending the world's most prestigious drag racing event this Labor Day weekend can contribute. Public address announcements throughout the weekend will help fans find the Red Cross donation locations around the facility. NHRA, the world's largest motorsports sanctioning body, will make a donation on behalf of its 140-member tracks and NHRA members. In addition, NHRA and MainGate, the on-site merchandise vendor, will be selling wristbands with proceeds to benefit the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. NHRA.com is currently donating banner advertising space. Fans also can call the American Red Cross at 1-800-HELP-NOW.
