Both drivers have won this year, Janis taking the Englishtown win and Smith looking to make it three in a row after winning at Bristol and Norwalk. Points-leader Smith is 1 - 0 against Janis in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round.

Janis evened the head-to-head tally, leaving first and never headed. The two were locked together all the way down the track.
