Pro Extreme Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #2
By Larry Sullivan

CECIL, Ga. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Extreme Motorcycle at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, Hardee's Georgia Drags VII listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jack Young Runs 4.348/164.97, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Chuck Wilburn Runs 5.766/95.61, Now #20; Best prior run: 5.061/111.40, Was #19

1:25 p.m. Young's first run was disallowed, too light (possibly the first-ever ADRL DQ for not making the weight).

He was not quick enough here to get back into the field. Wilburn's engine sounded sour before he went 100 feet.

Left Lane: Mantez Thompson Runs 4.212/167.99, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.268/165.84, Was #15
Right Lane: Dave Norris Runs 4.143/171.45, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.174/169.44, Was #6

Both were already in the field, both improved enough to move up the ladder.

Left Lane: Travis Davis Runs 4.150/172.28, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.208/167.76, Was #10
Right Lane: Casey Stemper Runs 4.191/145.45, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.212/173.99, Was #12

These two also improved, moving up the ladder - Davis into the top half.

Left Lane: John Collins Runs 4.474/157.87, Now #19; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Brunson Grothus Runs 4.183/168.49, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.179/168.28, Was #9

Collins got a time this round, but it wasn't quick enough. Grothus made his second good pass, did not improve.

Left Lane: Monte Campbell Runs 4.245/168.22, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.241/158.69, Was #14
Right Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 4.207/172.67, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.205/172.98, Was #11

Both ran almost the same as in the first session, did not improve.

Left Lane: Richard Gadson Runs 4.222/170.75, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.516/119.65, Was #20
Right Lane: Tyler Wilson Runs 6.560/69.04, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.784/64.89, Was #22

Wilson's Buell is complete with fiberglass saddle bags.

The Buell came off the line hard, then started bucking when the front wheel came down.

Gadson bumped into the field, putting Dave Vantine on the outside.

Left Lane: Terry Schweigert Runs 4.173/167.07, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.097/171.38, Was #3
Right Lane: Charlie Prophit Runs 4.459/146.59, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.850/61.18, Was #23

Prophit looked like he had a chance for about 200 feet, then the engine went sour.

Left Lane: Dave Vantine Runs 4.224/165.38, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.292/162.00, Was #17
Right Lane: Scott Gray Runs 4.285/167.95, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.169/168.22, Was #7

Vantine was just bumped from the field. He got back in nicely here, but once again his engine started smoking heavily when he shut off on the top end and once again the oil cleanup crew gets a workout.

Left Lane: Ronald Procopio Runs 4.123/172.12, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.110/173.05, Was #4
Right Lane: Paul Gast Runs 6.236/72.05, Now #19; Best prior run: 4.378/144.13, Was #19

Nice pass, but no improvement forProcopio. Gast had problems and stopped in the shutdown area.

Left Lane: Kim Morrell No Time, Now #25; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Terry Wynn Runs 4.274/168.07, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.267/156.46, Was #17

Morrell left before the tree was activated last round, this time the engine went silent and she now has one last chance to qualify. Wynn ran slightly slower than on his first attempt, also has just one more chance to qualify.
