E1 ****WINNER**** 0.073 5.656 264.44 0.040 5.873 240.77
 Qualified: #1 5.687 245.18 #12 13.807 81.77
11:38 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 29.62 inches, adjusted altitude 571 feet, track temperature 66 degrees.

Sorokin finally gets pass the sixty foot lights under power and is first off the line to boot.

Young is taking no prisoners and flies on by right after the 330 lights and runs his best times of the weekend.

Jim Young's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.002), 330 ft(-0.008), 660ft(0.022), 1,000ft(0.093). MOV: 0.1842 seconds (approximately 65 feet).

Jim Young's incremental times: 60ft-1.025 sec., 330ft-2.622, 660ft-3.823/209.69 mph, 1,000ft-4.817.
Adam Sorokin's incremental times: 60ft-1.056 sec., 330ft-2.647, 660ft-3.878/201.79 mph, 1,000ft-4.943.

724 Denver Schutz 457 Tony Bartone
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.097 5.715 246.30 0.078 5.989 201.58
 Qualified: #2 5.736 255.24 #11 11.757 60.73
Bartone unloaded on Thursday with a record setting ET and MPH. He struggled with managing the power in qualifying and finds himself on the wrong side of the ladder and in the right lane today. He gets a big starting line advantage and holds off a charging Schutz until near the 660 light. The car noses over at that point and slows.

Schutz scores his best ET of the weekend on a clean pass to near the lights. There is a lot of smoke from the engine, but no oil on the track.

Denver Schutz's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.036), 330 ft(-0.017), 660ft(0.031), 1,000ft(0.095). MOV: 0.2555 seconds (approximately 76 feet).

Denver Schutz's incremental times: 60ft-1.020 sec., 330ft-2.614, 660ft-3.829/206.67 mph, 1,000ft-4.841.
Tony Bartone's incremental times: 60ft-1.003 sec., 330ft-2.616, 660ft-3.879/196.24 mph, 1,000ft-4.955.

7131 Rick White 308 Howard Haight
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.201 5.651 258.12 No Time
 Qualified: #3 5.738 258.42 #10 8.751 109.83
Haight can't make the call, so White will make a single.

Not only does he make a full pass, it's good enough for the new low ET of the event.

Rick White's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.569, 660ft-3.773/207.75 mph, 1,000ft-4.787.

701 Rick McGee 725 Larry Gotelli
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.150 5.745 228.00 0.127 6.207 189.90
 Qualified: #4 5.846 236.13 #9 6.451 169.06
Lots of smoke in the lights for both cars, but McGee gets the win, after Gotelli wins the starting line.

McGee picks up a bunch of ET , but will give White lane choice next round.

Rick McGee's incremental margins: 60ft(0.021), 330 ft(0.092), 660ft(0.154), 1,000ft(0.251). MOV: 0.4393 seconds (more than 100 feet).

Rick McGee's incremental times: 60ft-1.030 sec., 330ft-2.622, 660ft-3.825/209.23 mph, 1,000ft-4.827.
Larry Gotelli's incremental times: 60ft-1.074 sec., 330ft-2.737, 660ft-4.002/197.45 mph, 1,000ft-5.101.

772 Rick Williamson 727 Ron August Jr.
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.036 5.807 227.88 0.156 6.002 237.55
 Qualified: #5 5.930 213.94 #8 6.202 226.16
August is dead late and Williamson gets a huge advantage off the line. The car runs strong to near the lights, where the engine blows in a wall of smoke and oil on the track.

August did make a big improvement in his ET and speed, but had no chance to win.

11:56 a.m. Lots of oil in the lights. Schutz will keep lane choice in round two.

Rick Williamson's incremental margins: 60ft(0.085), 330 ft(0.126), 660ft(0.209), 1,000ft(0.304). MOV: 0.3159 seconds (more than 100 feet).

Rick Williamson's incremental times: 60ft-1.075 sec., 330ft-2.662, 660ft-3.865/209.10 mph, 1,000ft-4.879.
Ron August Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-1.040 sec., 330ft-2.668, 660ft-3.954/190.65 mph, 1,000ft-5.063.

716 Bill Dunlap 774 Jim Murphy
E1 -0.180 13.587 68.53 ****WINNER**** 0.089 5.904 215.20
 Qualified: #6 6.068 211.49 #7 6.097 184.80
1:10 p.m. That was a loooog clean up. Almost an hour and fifteen minutes!!

Dunlap jump the green big time and clicks it off.

Murphy's car makes a good leave and runs clean to near the lights, where there is smoke form the pipes! He gets the full pull he was looking for and makes his best run of the weekend. He gets the easy win and will give lane choice to Young next round.

Jim Murphy's incremental times: 60ft-1.037 sec., 330ft-2.652, 660ft-3.888/201.19 mph, 1,000ft-4.938.
