Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2
By Larry Sullivan

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 48th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Mark Wolfe Runs 6.623/208.52, Now #12; Best prior run: 8.386/116.72, Was #21

1:26 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 64 degrees, relative humidity 43 percent, barometer 28.75 inches, adjusted altitude 2,094 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.

Chris McGaha is on the bump spot at 6.636.

Wolfe's car made a couple of twitchy moves toward the centerline and he managed to yank it back to the groove without swapping ends or any of that other bad stuff happening and posted a season-best ET.

Left Lane: Jerry Eckman Runs 6.835/203.25, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.052/190.92, Was #21
Right Lane: Steve Kalkowski Runs 6.896/206.80, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.734/205.51, Was #19

Both cars used up a lot of lane and came up well short of the field.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.527/211.76, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.969/161.87, Was #21
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.712/207.53, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.645/207.53, Was #16

Morgan shook right at the start and failed to improve. Anderson nailed this one and moved to the top of the heap, with top speed of the meet so far.

Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.734, 660ft-4.200/168.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.463.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.588/209.20, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.694/208.30, Was #19
Right Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 6.635/206.89, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.639/207.53, Was #16

Kramer rolled the beams, hurting his ET. On the top end, air spilling from WJ's chute as it opened blew the finish line reflector block across the right lane, necessitating some quick repairs before the next pair could run.

Warren Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.757, 660ft-4.238/166.15 mph, 1,000ft-5.514.
Deric Kramer's incremental times: 60ft-1.013 sec., 330ft-2.793, 660ft-4.277/166.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.556.

KJ was bumped several pairs ago and Enders was now the driver to beat to get back in.

KJ's car made a big move on the launch, scrubbing off a lot of ET. Enders was the second driver of the round to beat Allen Johnson's #1 ET from yesterday, pushing him down to third. Now V. Gaines is on the bump spot at 6.599.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.544/211.49, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.599/210.11, Was #12
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 9.082/91.27, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.597/210.24, Was #11
