BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Nostalgia Funny Car at the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series, California Hot Rod Reunion XXI:

117 John Smith 700 Steven Densham
E1 0.175 5.917 235.31 ****WINNER**** 0.116 5.803 242.63

5:46 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 89 degrees, relative humidity 33 percent, barometer 29.08 inches, adjusted altitude 3,209 feet.

Densham gets a small advantage at the green and slowly pulls ahead for the easy win, as Smitch engine melts down in the lights. No oil on the track though.

John Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.019 sec., 330ft-2.624, 660ft-3.887/194.55 mph, 1,000ft-4.978.
Steven Densham's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.555, 660ft-3.808/201.82 mph, 1,000ft-4.883.

724 Jeff Arend 7380 Rick Rogers
E1 No Time ****WINNER**** 0.111 7.187 125.51

Arend has issue after the burn out and has to click off the engine.

Rogers get a free pass to round two and gives up lane choice, as the car gets loose down track and he lifts.

482 Ronny Young 750 Del Worsham
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.165 5.761 254.76 0.100 17.686 55.17
 Qualified: #9 5.850 249.53 #8 5.849 252.99
6:04 p.m. A brief delay to clean up Arend's burnout oil down in the left lane.

Worsham gets a starting line advantage, but strikes the tires right after that.

The Blue Max crew finds some big power and Young runs 0.001 to Head's #1 qualifying position with a new top speed in FC for the easy win. If Head wins round one it will be interesting in round two.

Ronny Young's incremental times: 60ft-1.021 sec., 330ft-2.603, 660ft-3.828/202.36 mph, 1,000ft-4.876.

709 James Day 3111 Chad Head
E1 0.117 5.937 239.02 ****WINNER**** 0.085 5.731 250.55
 Qualified: #16 5.954 240.25 #1 5.760 250.37
Well, Head was up to the task and runs a new low ET of the event in the decisive win. He WILL have lane choice.

Day was second off the line and chased Head to the finish line with a better ET than he qualified with, but was no match.

Chad Head's incremental margins: 60ft(0.060), 330 ft(0.071), 660ft(0.134), 1,000ft(0.193). MOV: 0.2386 seconds (approximately 84 feet).

James Day's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.605, 660ft-3.891/191.13 mph, 1,000ft-4.998.

736 Dan Horan Jr 6800 Gary Eickman
E1 0.168 5.908 239.40 ****WINNER**** 0.146 5.873 241.80
 Qualified: #3 5.800 246.35 #14 5.939 242.36
Horan is away second, but goes around Eickman right away. He stays out in front until before the 330 lights, where Eickman gets back in front. Any chance to recover is gone, as the car starts to tail wag near the lights.

Dan Horan Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.011 sec., 330ft-2.628, 660ft-3.878/198.03 mph, 1,000ft-4.980.
Gary Eickman's incremental times: 60ft-1.039 sec., 330ft-2.611, 660ft-3.869/194.86 mph, 1,000ft-4.952.

394 Mike Lewis 7791 Will Martin
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.195 5.805 242.89 No Time
 Qualified: #4 5.820 243.15 #13 5.936 234.66
Martin was engine issues before they can do the burnout, so Lewis will get the single.

We are starting to see good header flames now and Lewis makes a clean and straight pass to the lights. He improves on his qualifying ET.

Mike Lewis' incremental times: 60ft-1.012 sec., 330ft-2.565, 660ft-3.814/197.54 mph, 1,000ft-4.886.

500 Garrett Bateman 758 Rian Konno
E1 0.196 5.991 234.49 ****WINNER**** 0.119 6.043 236.17
 Qualified: #5 5.829 235.06 #12 5.885 247.16
It late and later at the green, but Konno stays out in front for the nine foot hole shot win. He will give up lane choice to Lewis in round two tomorrow.

Bateman has the speed, but can't match his earlier ET's.

Garrett Bateman's incremental times: 60ft-1.022 sec., 330ft-2.648, 660ft-3.936/191.24 mph, 1,000ft-5.042.
Rian Konno's incremental times: 60ft-1.042 sec., 330ft-2.703, 660ft-3.990/191.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.098.

713 Josh Crawford 732 Kris Krabill
E1 0.182 5.813 245.94 ****WINNER**** 0.048 5.909 248.93
 Qualified: #6 5.830 241.20 #11 5.864 249.21
Last pair and another good race.

Krabill uses his crystal ball of the tree and gets the hole shot win by fourteen feet. Eickman will have lane choice on Sunday.

Don't give Crawford any sharp objects, as he improves on both his qualifying ET and MPH in the loss.

Kris Krabill's incremental margins: 60ft(0.070), 330 ft(0.016), 660ft(0.015), 1,000ft(0.026). MOV: 0.0383 seconds (approximately 14 feet).

Josh Crawford's incremental times: 60ft-1.005 sec., 330ft-2.585, 660ft-3.830/197.88 mph, 1,000ft-4.901.
Kris Krabill's incremental times: 60ft-1.069 sec., 330ft-2.703, 660ft-3.949/198.93 mph, 1,000ft-5.009.
