Pro Extreme Round 1 Eliminations
By Larry Sullivan

NORWALK, Ohio - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Extreme at the American Drag Racing League, ADRL Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Drags VI presented by Mickey Thompson:

    7 Alex Hossler 1382 Tommy D'Aprile
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.048 3.707 205.72 0.045 No Time
 Qualified: #8 3.663 206.45 #9 3.665 200.86
3:59 p.m. Just about even at the start, but D'Aprile began shaking and skating, taking out the 330-foot timing reflector, disqualifying his run (he didn't get a time anyway, finished in Hossler's lane).

217 Tim Tindle 4607 Todd Martin
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.047 3.670 207.78 0.049 3.703 205.47
 Qualified: #7 3.660 209.20 #10 3.688 205.98
Good race, but Tindle had the better car today. Tim Tindle's MOV: 0.0350 seconds (approximately 11 feet).

91 Dan Millen 277 Terry Leggett
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.052 3.692 205.47 0.057 3.786 201.04
 Qualified: #6 3.656 207.05 #11 3.694 208.36
Another good race, but Millen was pulling away on the top half and Leggett had the chute out right at the stripe.

2695 Bubba Stanton 38 Neal Wantye
E1 0.095 3.639 209.10 ****WINNER**** 0.010 3.669 207.78
 Qualified: #5 3.629 210.34 #12 3.702 207.05
Wantye had a great light and a career-best ET and speed enroute to a holeshot win over Stanton. Neal Wantye's MOV: 0.0550 seconds (approximately 17 feet). That is the quickest winning ET of the round, by the way.

4 Frankie Taylor 2377 Von Smith
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.024 3.625 209.36 0.010 No Time
 Qualified: #4 3.620 209.56 #13 3.703 204.39
Taylor had a good light, but Smith had an even better bulb. However, Smith's car kept drifting left and he took out the battered 330-foot timing reflector, then finished in Taylor's lane. Taylor now has low winning ET of the round and he will have lane choice against Wantye in round two.

6 Jason Scruggs 1101 Quain Stott
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.065 3.623 209.23 0.063 3.743 197.68
 Qualified: #3 3.614 209.56 #14 3.720 204.60
Just about even at the start, but Scruggs had the lead at 60 feet and stretched that, even before Stott's engine expired in dense cloud of smoke. Scruggs matched Taylor's winning ET and will have lane choice against Millen in round two.

From the trail of oil dry, it looks like Stott's containment device ("diaper") overflowed at about 1,000 feet and the cleanup goes halfway to the turnoff.

463 Brandon Pesz 6345 Clint Thompson
E1 0.150 No Time ****WINNER**** 0.111 3.738 203.95
 Qualified: #2 3.603 209.69 #15 3.766 200.57
Both drivers ran career-bests in qualifying here, but Thompson needed a big holeshot or something strange to have a chance here. He got a break, maybe -after waiting aptiently through the entire oil cleanup, Pesz's car refused to fire. The crew got it to kick over at the last minute and he made a very short burnout, stopping short of the starting line, but when the light went green, Pesz's car went silent again, rolling about 50 feet. Thompson gets the lucky win, but won't have lane choice against Tindle in round two.

3 Mick Snyder 360 Duane Rister
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.119 3.626 209.26 0.145 No Time
 Qualified: #1 3.598 209.95 #16 3.810 200.41
Final pair. The light went green and this time it was the slower qualifier with problems at the green. Rister's car spit out the blower belt and rolled a few feet, while Snyder was making yets another solid run. He will have lane choice against Hossler in round two.
