BRISTOL, Tenn. --

Tim Griffith kicked his DER Bracket Racing season off by issuing a strong warning to his competitors at Bristol Dragway by pulling off a Pro category sweep last weekend in Thunder Valley.

Griffith, of Richlands, Va., drove to Saturday's win over Kingsport's Donald Gilbert, with a .025 reaction time and a 6.709 elapsed time (6.67 dial-in) at 104.51 mph. Gilbert's runner-up effort had a .075 R.T. and a break out 6.528 E.T. (6.53 dial-in) at 103.46 mph.

On Sunday, Griffith double entered and made it to the final round with both cars. Only needing to cruise down the strip in one car, he left the line with a .973 R.T. and rolled down the track with a 10.999 E.T. (6.72 dial-in) at 65.22 mph to put an exclamation point on his weekend.

Elizabethton's Danny Garrison won Saturday's Super Pro category over a red -lighting Rex Wyatt of Bristol. Garrison used a .036 R.T. and a 5.152 E.T. (5.16 dial-in) at 132.91 on his run after his opponent left the line too soon.

Christi Johnson of Maryville defeated Trevor Denton from Bristol, Va. to earn Sunday's Super Pro win. She ran dead on her dial-in with a 4.810 E.T. at 141.94 mph and left little room for Denton to get around her after leaving the line with a .016 R.T. In a close race, Denton left with a .010 R.T. and ran 4.913 (4.90) at 141.73 mph.

John Isom of Bristol defeated Elaine Hatcher to claim Saturday's Sportsman division, while Richlands' Darrel McGlothlin sent Bristol's C.J. Elsea back to the trailer to win Sunday's Sportsman final.

Jesse Johnson won Saturday's Trophy category after his opponent, Britt Stone of Bristol, turned on the red light in the final. Stone avenged the loss Sunday, however, when Tyler Newman suffered the same fate by leaving the line a little early.

The final round of Motorcycle action probably felt like d?j? vu for everyone in attendance, as Wes Parsons from Independence, Va. and Elizabethton's Chris Johnson battled for the win Saturday and Sunday. Ironically, Johnson lost due to a red light start each day.

Knoxville's Joseph Beeler claimed Junior Dragster Division II over Taylor Dunahoo from Roanoke, Va. on Saturday, while Landon Stahl of Boone, N.C. earned Jr. Dragster Div. II on Sunday when he defeated Tiffany Howard of Corryton.

Devin Kiser, also of Corryton, trailered Blountville's Carson Brown in Saturday's Jr. Dragster Div. I showdown, while a couple of Hazard, Ky. racers faced off on Sunday, with Hunter Feltner defeating Matthew Miller.

Action continues at Bristol Dragway with this weekend's inaugural ADRL Spring Drags III.
