4:47 p.m. Murray left first, but Hunnicutt made up the difference in the first 60 feet, then pulled away for the win.

McAdams was off the line first and led almost to half track, but his engine started trailing "death smoke" and Vantine went by for the win, picking up five hundredths over his best qualifying run.

Prophit had the early lead, but both bikes went silent past half track and Jones coasted across the line first.

Gray had more than a tenth advantage on paper and Holloway gave up a few hundredths more on the tree. Gray races Jones next round and will have lane choice.

Wilburn's bike faltered a bit on the launch and Vose was long gone by the time he recovered. Vose will have lane choice against Norris in round two.

Nichols spotted Stemper a tenth on the tree, then his bike went sour and he slowed. Stemper will have lane choice against Vantine, by two thousandths of a second.

Watson was late, then started leaning to the left to keep his bike off the wall. Meanwhile, McKinney was on time and ran low ET of the event. He will have lane choice against Hunnicutt in round two.
