Coughlin is 3 - 0 against Gray in prior events and Coughlin is 1 - 0 against Gray in prior final rounds. Coughlin qualified thirteenth and no one in the thirty year history of the finals has won from the bottom half of the field.

The Kid makes all of the round that he can. He leaves first and stays there for the entire run to win both the race and to move up two spots on the ladder to the final #4 position. Terrific final round. Coughlin did his best, but this was Gray's day.
