Top Fuel Round 1 Eliminations

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals:

Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 57 percent, barometer 28.53 inches, adjusted altitude 4,075 feet, track temperature 119 degrees.

They qualified with the same E.T. but McMillen got the the number eight spot based on speed. Langdon is 3 - 0 against McMillen in prior events. McMillen is out of the gate first on Langdon, but Langdon has the difference made up by the time they went by the Christmas tree. Both cars with nice clean passes with Langdon taking the win by 0.0408 seconds (approximately 18 feet).

This is the first time Torrence and Grubnic have faced each other in eliminations. Torrence with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win light. Steve Torrence's MOV: 0.0446 seconds (approximately 19 feet).

This is the first time Buff and Vandergriff have faced each other in eliminations. Vandergriff with the starting line advantage and the lead until around half track when Buff drove around him and took the win. Troy Buff's MOV: 0.0266 seconds (approximately 12 feet). Buff with the quickest pass of the round and his fastest pass of the year. Vandergriff with a nice clean pass in the losing effort.

Brown will have lane choice over Langdon in round two. Kalitta with a great pass, his quickest of the weekend and the second quickest pass of the round in a losing effort.

Lucas with his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. Dixon dropped a cylinder or two and this is only the second round loss for Dixon on Father's Day.

Bernstein with the second quickest pass of the round for the win by 3.7883 seconds (more than 100 feet). Bernstein will have lane choice over Buff in the next round.

Schumacher is 27 - 9 against Herbert in prior events. This is Herbert's 300th start in a Top Fueler. Herbert is out of the gate first and has the lead until around 800 feet when Schumacher is able to drive around him for the win by 0.0126 seconds (approximately 5 feet). Schumacher had a big move on the top end, but still takes the win. Herbert with a big engine explosion right in the lights.
