EDMONTON, Alb. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Torco Top Fuel at the 2008 Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series, CARS RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO Racing Fuels: Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed 10 Mitch King 72 Mike Strasburg E1 0.111 8.534 84.69 ****WINNER**** 0.082 5.551 224.85 Qualified: #8 13.321 65.98 #4 6.024 153.531:25 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 68 percent, barometer 27.43 inches, adjusted altitude 4,199 feet, track temperature 88 degrees. This is only the second run down the track for these cars this weekend, so it will severely challenge the tuners to figure out drastically different weather conditions from their qualifying session. Both cars
struck the tires about 300 feet out, both drivers pedaled, but King's car lost power while Strasburg's recovered and finished the
run.

Qualified: #7 7.461 113.24 #3 5.228 207.46
McMillen was up in smoke immediately and "the local boy" won this one going away.Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed 141 Bobby Lagana Jr. 1 Bruce Litton E1 ****WINNER**** 0.083 4.990 268.38 0.104 5.051 298.34 Qualified: #6 7.227 108.86 #2 5.053 276.63Talk about a tough first-round pairing, the winners of the last two national events end up racing each o0ther in the first round. Lagana won at Budds Creek and Litton won Milan. It was a pedaling contest, both striking the tires at about the same time
and both managed to pedal their way to the other end, Lagana getting there first, in under five seconds. Litton was closing the gap,
ran out of race track. Bobby Lagana Jr.'s incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.010), 330 ft(0.070), 660ft(0.124),
1,000ft(0.122). MOV: 0.0827 seconds (approximately 36 feet). Lagana will have lane choice against Strasburg in the semifinals.
There is oil in Lagana's lane, way down in the shutdown area, but he had a "freebie" coming and it won't cost him in the
points. Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed 421 Spencer Massey 373 Kevin Jones E1 0.091 5.252 270.05 ****WINNER**** 0.097 5.194 252.99 Qualified: #5 6.328 137.43 #1 4.911 275.96The last pair finds two of the "future stars" of drag racing squaring off in the first round. Both drivers were pedaling before half track, both did a good job, but Jones got it hooked up to take the lead and pull ahead, getting to the line first by less than a car length. Jones appeared to push out a head gasket around the 1,000-foot marker, with lots of flames in the engine bay. Kevin Jones' incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.025), 330 ft(-0.061), 660ft(-0.066), 1,000ft(0.035). MOV: 0.0524 seconds (approximately 21 feet). Jones faces local driver Boychuk in the semifinals, Boychuk will have lane choice.
