Funny Car Final, Round 4 Eliminations

TOPEKA, Kan. - Results of final, round 4 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals presented by Castrol GTX:

Force is 22 - 5 against Wilkerson in prior events and Wilkerson is 2 - 1 against Force in prior final rounds. Force has one Funny Car runner up finish this season while Wilkerson has two Funny Car wins in 2008. Wilkerson's final round won/loss record is 7/8 while Force's final round won/loss record is 125/76. This will be the first time this event will see a Funny Car winner come from the bottom half of the ladder.
Wilkerson got out of the groove just before half track, started hazing the tires, dropped a cylinder, and John Force drove on by for the win. The win moves Force into third place in the points, and even with the loss, Wilkerson increases his 1st place points lead to 81 points over Ashley Force.
