CLERMONT, Ind. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro RWD at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 53rd annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals:

These guys ought to be able to fly in this first round. The sun has been set for awhile and the track has cooled off quite a bit.

OK, here's what happened. Rojas does his burnout, goes to the line and turns on both bulbs. He sits there quite a while and White has not begun to go in.

After ten or fifteen seconds, the Scion lights the first bulb and goes on the chip. The engine hits the limiters and he tries to bump in to turn on the second bulb. Doesn't happen since when the car finally moves the last time it jumps forward about ten feet. Rojas goes down the track as the winner.

When the light turned green, Personett's car bogged badly and fell on its nose. In the meantime, Cruz was having problems of his own and more or less rolling for the finish line. After a couple of seconds, the Toyota recovered and took off in chase of Cruz. Even running 203 mph, it couldn't get there in time.
