Noakes tried an old trick, blipping the throttle after they staged, possibly distracting Munroe enough for Noakes to get a big starting line advantage. However, Munroe still had the muscle to take the early lead and pull away for the win, so another #1-qualifier advances.

Atchison launched into severe shake, the car lurching and bouncing violently. Big upset win by Tigges and his run was good enough to earn lane choice against Munroe in the semifinals.

Lebsack's car shook and danced on the launch and that let Dobbins get away for the win. However, he was not quick enough to get lane choice against Thomas in the semifinals.
