it tamed down first for the win.

Great run by Rowe to improve over his qualifying effort. Vick was quick off the line, then shook and fell back.

Kerunsky had a psychic light and a huge holeshot, then outran Hamstra to win going away.

Spiering had a good light, Harper was late, then the fuse on his engine was only 1,000 feet long. Spiering won by a couple car
lengths, but slowed from his qualifying effort by a tenth.

8 Burton Auxier 6 Quain Stott

Auxier shook and fishtailed several times on the launch. Stott made a nice run, right down the groove. However, he was not quick
enough and Rowe will have lane choice next round.

Janis's was losing ground all the way, then his car made a major move out toward the wall as he neared the finish line. Halsey
went right down the groove, a nice run, but he lost lane choice to Kerunsky by just over a hundredth of a second.

These two left together and Castellana was slightly ahead at 60 feet, then Bareman moved ahead despite a right-left move about
100 feet out and held on for the win. He will have lane choice against radford in round two.

On a holeshot, the #1 qualifier is out'a here! Actually, D'Aprile made up the initial advantage in the first 60 feet, but
slipped out of the groove past half track and lost a lot of time getting the car straightened out. Alan Pittman's incremental
margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.012), 330 ft(-0.009), 660ft(-0.018), 1,000ft(0.004). MOV: 0.0097 seconds (approximately 3
feet). He lost lane choice to Spiering, by just under a hundredth of a second.
