Johnson hazed the tires on the launch, out to about 200 feet, and Will pulled away to a big lead by half track. Her car slowed from her qualifying and first-round pace by about a tenth of a second, but it was still quick enough to win going away.

Federlin is usually deadly on the tree, Snow less predictable. Federlin got the starting line edge, as expected, but it was not enough to hold off Snow's A-Fueler, which was on an awesome pace right from the start with a 0.893 60-foot time, erasing Federlin's advantage in the first 60 feet, then pulling away.

Olivarez is running Morgan Lucas' TAD from last year and initially struggled to sort out the combination, but once he got it figured out, he has been a threat this year. Thacker is a veteran driver and is no slouch, with one of the best blown cars in the country. Thacker had the better light and led to half track, then Olivarez' A-Fuel thundered by for the win. Aaron Olivarez's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.013), 330 ft(-0.022), 660ft(-0.001), 1,000ft(0.029). MOV: 0.0456 seconds (approximately 18 feet), easily earning lane choice against Will in the semifinals.

Reichert is the veteran in this matchup, Torrence the newcomer, but Torrence has Tom Conway on his side of the track to even up the score. THGis one was all Torrence, leading all the way and winning going away. Steve Torrence's MOV: 0.0605 seconds (approximately 24 feet). He faces Snow in the semifinals and Snow has lane choice, but only by 0.002 seconds.
