Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #1

Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 21st annual
Checker Schuck's Kragen NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and
position in order following run:
Left Lane: Jamey Ober Runs 7.159/193.27, Now #1
Right Lane: Josh King Runs 7.972/139.34, Now #2
Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 39 percent,
barometer 28.76 inches, adjusted altitude 2,766 feet, track temperature 100 degrees.Ober was
loose from the start and got over close to the centerline. King making his Pro Stock
debut.
Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.802/203.09, Now #1
Right Lane: Vince Fourcade Runs 7.379/149.38, Now #3
Fourcade with some smoke on the top end. Edwards with a really nice pass. Mike
Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.836, 660ft-4.368/161.23mph,
1,000ft-5.686
Left Lane: Tony Rizzo Runs 6.918/202.09, Now #3
Right Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 6.897/200.62, Now #2
A couple Arizona racers here, and they are both straight down the track.
Left Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.839/202.85, Now #2
Right Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 7.048/200.86, Now #5
Pawuk with some tire spin right off the starting line. Enders with a new engine in
the car with this pass and is straight down the groove.
Left Lane: Barry Grant Runs 6.834/201.88, Now #2
Right Lane: Jim Cunningham Runs 7.048/195.08, Now #7
Grant with a nice looking pass.
Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.768/204.05, Now #1
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.806/202.76, Now #3
Gaines with a real nice looking pass to go to the top of the list and he is just
0.02 off the track record. Stanfield with a good looking pass.
Left Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.827/202.67, Now #5
Right Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 6.821/202.33, Now #4
These two were side-by-side all the way down the 1320.
Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.833/202.70, Now #7
Right Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.811/202.48, Now #4
Watson with another good looking pass to start the weekend. Coughlin was real loose
at half track.
Left Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.776/204.32, Now #3
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.774/204.54, Now #2
This was a good looking side-by-side drag race to slide in behind V.Gaines.
Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.766/204.79, Now #1
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.802/203.22, Now #5
Anderson with nice looking pass to go to the top of the list. Anderson also has top
speed with this pass.
Left Lane: Larry Morgan No Time, Now #22
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.801/203.22, Now #5
Morgan was able to get it to back up after the burnout, so he will miss this pass.
Yates was loose, but stayed with it to get into the top half of the show.
Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.834/203.19, Now #14
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.813/203.68, Now #10
Both of these two looked like good passes, but the E.T.s just weren't
there.
Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.762/204.29, Now #1
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 10.671/84.10, Now #25
Warren Johnson with a great looking pass to go to the top half of the list, while
Connolly had problems early and clicked it off. We finish round one with WJ number one and
Grant is on the bump with a 6.834-second pass.
