"Sarge" Enroute to New Single-Season Record

This picture happens to have been taken during Tony Schumacher's second-round win over David
Grubnic, but it could have been taken on any of his first three sub-4.5-second runs Sunday. David
Baca managed to stay within a tenth of a second at half track in the semifinals before falling out
of the picture, but only Morgan Lucas came close to stopping Schumacher's awesome charge to a
single-season record 10th national event win, leading the U.S. Army dragster for the first 1,000
feet by virtue of a holeshot and an early pedal-job by Schumacher before falling victim to
mechanical woes in the last 320 feet.
