Tony Bartone had a chance to earn his second Federal Mogul Funny Car
championship this weekend, but fell just a few feet short. If he had
defeated Pat Austin in the final round, he would have tied Frank Manzo in
points and would have been declared the champion on a tie-breaker. The
final against Austin was a great race with Austin prevailing 5.634 to 5.640.
