In the final qualifying session, Del Worsham had an engine explosion at half
track launch his new green Mountain Dew body high into the air. Del was
unhurt and the body, though repairable, couldn't be fixed in time for
Sunday's eliminations, so Del used his familiar red and white CSK Firebird
with Mountain Dew decals on the door.
