Rod, over 200 points behind first place and was no where to be found in the national
chase. In 2002, he won three divisional events and one national event on his way to
clinching the 2002 Hot Rod title, as well as the Division 1 championship. He accomplished
this without the assistance of a throttle stop which is unique to the Hot Rod class.
