Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

EDMONTON, Alb. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock at the 2005 Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series, Third Annual Western RV Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO Race Fuels listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 6.605/211.16, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.578/212.29, Was #6
Right Lane: Elijah Morton Runs 6.709/207.75, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.769/206.35, Was #11

8:42 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 66 degrees, relative humidity 57 percent, barometer 27.64 inches, adjusted altitude 3,407 feet, track temperature 86 degrees.

Morton improves slightly, Haas falls slightly off his earlier pace.


Left Lane: Daniel Seamon Runs 6.610/212.39, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.564/213.33, Was #5
Right Lane: Chuck DeMory Runs 6.654/208.75, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.734/207.30, Was #11

Same story, the right lane still looking like the better of the two.

Left Lane: Tony Gillig Runs 6.533/212.56, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.554/212.23, Was #4
Right Lane: Rick Jones Runs 6.590/212.66, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.619/212.09, Was #9

And then, maybe not! Gillig launched hard and ran right down the groove. Tony Gillig's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.763, 660ft-4.221/169.23mph, 1,000ft-5.474. Now there are only three cars outside the fifties.

Left Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 6.568/210.73, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.537/212.43, Was #4
Right Lane: Pete Berner Runs 6.569/210.05, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.608/211.93, Was #9

Nice side-by-side show for the fans and now there are only two outside the fifties.

Left Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 6.492/212.79, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.532/212.46, Was #2

Patrick made a jaw-dropping run, starting with a super-quick 0.975 60-foot time, moving the track elapsed time record into the forties. Robert Patrick's incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.728, 660ft-4.182/169.36mph, 1,000ft-5.434.

Left Lane: Frank Gugliotta Runs 6.521/213.20, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.530/214.01, Was #2
Right Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.541/212.69, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.586/212.93, Was #8

Two very nice runs to close the round, but neither could lay a hand on Patrick.
