Tony Schumacher can establish a new seasons record for Top Fuel wins in about 4.4 plus seconds. He has already wrapped up the 2004 Top Fuel National Championship at the recently completed Reading race. The retro look US Army dragster, tuned by Alan Johnson, has dominated eliminations with a clear performance advantage.

This will be Morgan Lucas' second consecutive final round Top Fuel appearance in only his eighth professional start. His career best time and speed came in the first round of competition today against Larry Dixon when he ran an elapsed time of 4.519 seconds, 325.77 MPH. Lucas has advanced to the semi-finals four times out of seven events in Joe Amato's Lucas Oil dragster, tuned by Wayne Dupuy.

The two dragsters leave the line together and Schumacher leads Lucas down the track until mid-track. Lucas is ahead by .002 at the 660 foot lights until the engine kicks off the blower belt. Schumacher gets a little scare, as his engine expires around the 1000 foot lights and goes through the lights on fire.

Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.156, 660ft-3.080/273.11mph, 1,000ft-3.860
Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.158, 660ft-3.072/274.27mph, 1,000ft-3.905
