TOPEKA, Kan. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the 12th annual Advance Auto Parts Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Larry Peternel Runs 7.270/188.81, Now #1

Under sunny skies with the temperature at 82 degrees, barometer is 30.07 inches and the humidity is 27%. Peternel with his career best mph.

Left Lane: Brad Klein Runs 7.052/195.76, Now #1
Right Lane: Ed Heck Runs 7.150/192.06, Now #2

Left Lane: Carl Beal Runs 19.003/66.32, Now #5
Right Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 7.095/193.96, Now #2

Beal with problems right off the starting line and coast on through the quarter mile.

Left Lane: Gary Wiggins Runs 7.132/193.02, Now #4
Right Lane: Roger Jenkins Runs 7.113/193.63, Now #3

Left Lane: John Fairleigh No Time, Now #9
Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 13.242/63.79, Now #7

Fairleigh broke on the burnout, and Nobile had problems right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 7.041/195.14, Now #1
Right Lane: Danny Coffman Runs 7.118/194.55, Now #5

This will be Hammonds last race of the season as he is going to training camp. Hammonds with a straight run out of the box.

Left Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 7.056/194.94, Now #3
Right Lane: Hurley Blakeney Runs 7.130/194.55, Now #7

Blakeney was real loose on the starting line.

Left Lane: Scott Geoffrion Runs 7.005/195.62, Now #1
Right Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 8.890/105.08, Now #12

Geoffrion was loose around the 200-foot mark, while Thomas lifted early.

Left Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 7.077/194.86, Now #6
Right Lane: George Marnell Runs 6.992/196.22, Now #1

Marnell gives us our first six-second pass of the weekend.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 7.010/196.73, Now #3
Right Lane: Brad Jeter Runs 7.023/196.33, Now #4

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 7.047/195.11, Now #7
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 7.007/196.30, Now #3

a couple of good passes here with Smith jumping in behind Marnell and Geoffrion.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 7.037/195.28, Now #6
Right Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 7.111/193.49, Now #13

Allen into the top half of the field. The bump is now a Blakeney at a 7.130.

Left Lane: Darrell Alderman Runs 15.236/80.07, Now #23
Right Lane: Tom Martino Runs 7.055/195.70, Now #10

Alderman with problems right off the starting line, while Martino was loose early, but stayed with it to get in the show for now.

Left Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.970/197.13, Now #1
Right Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 7.028/194.49, Now #7

Yates with a great looking pass to jump to the top of the heap.

Left Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 7.000/196.70, Now #3
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 7.033/195.73, Now #9

Pawuk so close to the six-second zone and still jumps into third place for now.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.953/197.36, Now #1
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 7.015/197.77, Now #8

Warren jumps to the top of the list.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 7.010/197.02, Now #8
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.991/196.44, Now #3

The current number one and two in the points chase round out the session here with Jeg jumping into the six-second zone and the number three spot, while Kurt rounds up the top eight. We finish round one with V. Gaines' 7.047 seconds
