TOPEKA - Pro Stock Truck Qualifying Notes, Session #3

A couple of changes.

TOPEKA, Kan. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Truck at the 11th annual Advance Auto Parts Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Randy Daniels Runs 7.692/174.14, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.665/174.62, Was #6
Right Lane: David Spitzer Runs 7.728/173.29, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.675/175.16, Was #11

2:00 PM and the trucks are ready for their third round of qualifying. No help for either driver here.

Left Lane: Mark Osborne Runs 7.708/174.32, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.671/175.11, Was #10
Right Lane: Joe Pigford Runs 7.761/172.61, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.757/173.14, Was #25

Osborne rode a wheelie for the first 150 feet.

Left Lane: Bart Price Runs 7.711/174.28, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.807/172.41, Was #29
Right Lane: George Supinski Runs 9.706/97.86, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.745/173.41, Was #24

Price was skating around early. Couldn't tell why Supinski got off the throttle.

Left Lane: Jeff Lukovich Runs 7.728/173.18, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.733/171.45, Was #22
Right Lane: Rick Jones Runs 7.726/173.87, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.711/174.87, Was #15

Lukovich improves, but not enough to break into the field.

Left Lane: Mike Coughlin Runs 7.676/174.35, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.694/175.05, Was #13
Right Lane: Kim Smith Runs 7.682/173.32, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.664/174.39, Was #5

Coughlin is able to step it up a bit. Smith spun the tires on the launch.

Left Lane: Bo Nickens Runs 7.822/172.50, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.730/173.96, Was #21
Right Lane: Dave McConnell Runs 12.157/72.06, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.793/172.56, Was #28

McConnell was off the throttle before half track.

Left Lane: Brian Self No Time, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.627/175.71, Was #3
Right Lane: John Coughlin Runs 8.133/130.07, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.667/175.48, Was #7

Self left before the tree was activated. Coughlin was bouncing on the launch.

Left Lane: John Lingenfelter Runs 7.730/173.99, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.669/175.11, Was #9
Right Lane: Don Smith Runs 7.829/171.38, Now #29; Best prior run: 7.803/172.54, Was #29

No help for either driver.

Left Lane: Scott Perin Runs 19.860/37.42, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.627/176.77, Was #2
Right Lane: Chip Ippolito Runs 7.706/173.72, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.703/174.28, Was #14

Perin had the truck clicked off by the 60' marker.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 7.701/174.01, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.659/174.93, Was #4
Right Lane: Brad Jeter Runs 7.637/175.05, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.621/176.07, Was #1

Looks like Jeter has the right set-up for this track.

Left Lane: Robert Freeman Runs 7.812/171.10, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.735/172.92, Was #23
Right Lane: Scott Tidwell Runs 7.724/172.47, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.740/173.47, Was #24

Freeman was out of the groove by the time he passed the 330' cones.

Left Lane: Jose Maldonado Runs 7.975/169.08, Now #32; Best prior run: 8.053/167.47, Was #32
Right Lane: Bob Panella Jr Runs 7.616/175.94, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.667/174.96, Was #8

Panella makes a big jump to the top of the heap here.

Left Lane: Lou Ficco Runs 7.742/173.07, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.733/173.78, Was #23
Right Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 7.696/174.57, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.688/175.43, Was #13

Haas is looking consistant this weekend.

Left Lane: John Lingenfelter Runs 7.760/173.54, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.669/175.11, Was #9
Right Lane: Roy Simmons Runs 8.025/170.67, Now #31; Best prior run: 7.892/172.23, Was #31

Lingenfelter in the truck this run, or the earlier one? His name and number showed on the screen for both runs.

Left Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 7.783/172.19, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.722/173.49, Was #18
Right Lane: Dale Eaton No Time, Now #30; Best prior run: 7.834/171.95, Was #30

Eaton was pushed off the track before the burnout.

Eaton puts himself in the field for now.

Kopp makes the field for now, on his first pass of the weekend. He took delivery of a new engine just yesterday, and drove nonstop from Baltimore last night. Bob Panella Jr. sits on the pole with a 7.616 second ET and Chip Ippolito is on the bump spot with his 7.703 second ET.
