READING - Funny Car Round 2 Eliminations

MOHNTON, Pa. - Results of round 2 eliminations in Funny Car at the 17th annual Pep Boys NHRA Nationals presented by Greased Lightning:

Pedregon won in round one after Del Worsham's car blew the blower coming off the starting line. Epler beat Sarver in round one and had lane choice for this round. Epler shook the tires hard and backed off while Pedregon made a good run to take the win.

Bazemore beat Hofmann in round one while Cannon got by on Capps his first time out. This time, Cannon went up in smoke at 330 feet and Bazemore earned a trip to the semifinals against Frank Pedregon.

Force ran a 4.747 second ET in the first round to back up his record time of 4.731 seconds run during qualifying. Both drivers made strong runs but Force got to the finish line first and moved into the semifinals. When he starts the semifinals, Force will become the first NHRA driver to compete in 1,000 rounds of eliminations. Margin of victory = 0.020 seconds (approximately 9 feet).

Pedregon smoked the tires at 330 feet and backed off. Gray made it to the finish line first and but smoked the engine as he earned a semifinal meeting with John Force. Gray lost lane choice to Force i9n the next round.
