Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 20th annual Dodge NHRA Finals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.600/269.67, Now #12; No Prior Run

Fricke started to lose traction and she pedals it. She gets it to hook up and gets in the show.

Left Lane: Bill Dunlap No Time, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.834/222.40, Was #14
Right Lane: Ron Anderson No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 14.902/69.79, Was #17

Dunlap can't get the car to fire.

Anderson made a quick move toward the centerline and crossed, so he won't get a time and will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Mike Burns Runs 5.405/265.22, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.382/266.79, Was #10
Right Lane: Johnny Ahten Runs 12.609/60.58, Now #16; Best prior run: 14.725/77.31, Was #16

Burns with another good clean pass. He will stay in the number 10 spot.

Ahten with severe tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Steve Griboski Runs 8.864/128.87, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.378/268.22, Was #9
Right Lane: Dusty Green Runs 6.377/217.74, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.377/178.33, Was #15

Griboski lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off.

Green improves, but stays in the number 15 spot.

Left Lane: Julie Nataas Runs 5.360/268.17, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.368/264.55, Was #8
Right Lane: Nick Januik Runs 5.468/266.58, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.696/203.95, Was #13

Nataas is straight down the groove, she makes another good pass. She will start from the number eight spot.

Januik is straight down the groove to move up the ladder one spot.

Left Lane: James Stevens Runs 8.739/137.11, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.330/271.41, Was #7
Right Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 5.470/267.32, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.400/263.67, Was #11

Stevens lost traction early and clicked it off.

Grisel with a good clean pass, but will not improve.

Left Lane: Brandon Greco Runs 17.681/36.40, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.329/251.02, Was #6
Right Lane: Duane Shields Runs 7.800/111.94, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.301/275.96, Was #4

Greco shook right at the hit and clicked it off.

Shields started to loose traction and pedaled it. He couldn't get it to hook up and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Kim Parker Runs 5.292/270.43, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.317/270.10, Was #5
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.279/271.46, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.262/273.77, Was #3

Parker had it hitting on all eight all the way down the tract to move up the ladder one spot. Kim Parker's incremental times: 60ft-0.963 sec., 330ft-2.426, 660ft-3.528/226.35 mph, 1,000ft-4.471.

Severance with another good looking pass, but will not improve. Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.893 sec., 330ft-2.332, 660ft-3.469/217.67 mph, 1,000ft-4.449.

Left Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.258/276.13, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.208/276.80, Was #2
Right Lane: Megan Meyer Runs 5.236/269.56, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.203/271.79, Was #1

A couple good passes, the two quickest of the session.

Neither driver improves.

Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.920 sec., 330ft-2.373, 660ft-3.492/221.89 mph, 1,000ft-4.446.

Megan Meyer's incremental times: 60ft-0.921 sec., 330ft-2.393, 660ft-3.488/228.23 mph, 1,000ft-4.420.

Meyer holds on to the number one spot for the ninth time in her career and second time this year.
