Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 20th annual Dodge NHRA Finals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.487/264.96, Now #2; Best prior run: 10.391/89.19, Was #16
Right Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.464/267.75, Now #1; Best prior run: 9.438/105.55, Was #15

This is a great side-by-side drag race to start final qualifying.

Bellemeur is straight down the groove to the number two spot. Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.940 sec., 330ft-2.455, 660ft-3.635/210.34 mph, 1,000ft-4.639.

Hough kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Brian Hough's incremental times: 60ft-0.956 sec., 330ft-2.459, 660ft-3.629/212.33 mph, 1,000ft-4.624.

Left Lane: Chip Beverett Runs 5.621/262.08, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.747/140.24, Was #14
Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 9.765/90.42, Now #16; Best prior run: 8.383/109.00, Was #16

Beverett makes a move into the top half of the show with a good clean pass. Chip Beverett's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.547, 660ft-3.749/206.76 mph, 1,000ft-4.764.

Payne with problems early in the run and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Hunter Jones Runs 5.810/242.15, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.875/222.00, Was #11
Right Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 6.274/202.82, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.897/149.05, Was #15

Jones is straight down the groove, improving on his earlier time. He will stay in the number 11 spot.

Gasparrelli started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Right Lane: Ray Martin Runs 5.650/259.01, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.875/145.38, Was #15

Martin is straight down the groove to get into the top half of the show. Ray Martin's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.532, 660ft-3.745/204.29 mph, 1,000ft-4.779.

Left Lane: Mike Doushgounian Runs 8.802/100.06, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.689/254.81, Was #10
Right Lane: Doug Schneider Runs 5.940/244.03, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.002/246.71, Was #14

Doushgounian made a quick move toward the centerline and clicked it off.

Schneider with a clean pass to move up the ladder one spot.

Left Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.485/267.75, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.662/204.39, Was #9
Right Lane: Don Hudson Runs 5.891/253.14, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.970/195.76, Was #14

gordon launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Doug Gordon's incremental times: 60ft-0.948 sec., 330ft-2.472, 660ft-3.650/211.03 mph, 1,000ft-4.645.

Hudson move up ladder one spot with a clean pass.

Left Lane: Kris Hool Runs 5.578/261.47, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.603/261.42, Was #7
Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.534/267.96, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.548/267.43, Was #6

hool improves on his run from earlier today but stays in the number seven spot. Kris Hool's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.504, 660ft-3.701/207.88 mph, 1,000ft-4.718.

Whiteley is straight down the groove to also improve on her run from earlier today. she will stay in the number six spot. Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.964 sec., 330ft-2.520, 660ft-3.699/210.60 mph, 1,000ft-4.694.

Left Lane: Bob McCosh Runs 5.540/264.29, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.523/264.65, Was #4
Right Lane: Chris Marshall Runs 5.524/267.22, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.524/266.69, Was #5

These two started the session number one and two.

A couple good clean runs, but neither driver improves...

Bob McCosh's incremental times: 60ft-0.953 sec., 330ft-2.487, 660ft-3.675/208.46 mph, 1,000ft-4.687.
Chris Marshall's incremental times: 60ft-0.954 sec., 330ft-2.492, 660ft-3.678/210.31 mph, 1,000ft-4.680.
