Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

BAYTOWN, Texas - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 33rd annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.928/325.22, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.694/84.98, Was #16

Tasca launched hard and kept it right in the groove to get off the bump and into the top half of the show. Bob Tasca III's incremental times: 60ft-0.868 sec., 330ft-2.255, 660ft-3.181/280.19 mph.

Left Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 6.305/105.84, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.021/150.48, Was #13

Haddock started to make a move toward the wall and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bobby Bode III Runs 4.024/259.51, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.705/171.82, Was #12
Right Lane: Dave Richards Runs 5.269/169.85, Now #14; No Prior Run

Bode III with a great looking pass, straight down the groove to move into the top half of the show. Bobby Bode III's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.240, 660ft-3.172/276.52 mph.

Richards shook right at the hit, he pedaled it, but couldn't get it to hook up and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 6.738/93.05, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.492/190.59, Was #12
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.041/298.47, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.596/125.38, Was #16

Lee starts to shake and clicks it off.

Pedregon with a clean pass until in the lights where he clicked it off early. Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.893 sec., 330ft-2.297, 660ft-3.253/271.19 mph.

Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 6.207/104.59, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.077/302.62, Was #9
Right Lane: Ron Capps Runs 8.463/79.20, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.295/136.44, Was #16

Alexander starts to lose traction and clicks it off.

Capps with tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Chad Green No Time, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.062/294.88, Was #8
Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 7.461/90.91, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.291/225.71, Was #12

Green can't get the car into reverse at the end of the burnout. He pulls over by the wall and the Safety Safari gets him out of the car and over the wall.

Wilkerson is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 3.986/320.13, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.973/317.94, Was #5
Right Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 4.120/309.70, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.137/308.14, Was #11

Johnson Jr. with another good looking pass, he will not improve. He runs the second quickest pass of the session. Tommy Johnson Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.875 sec., 330ft-2.278, 660ft-3.225/273.00 mph.

Campbell is straight down the groove with a good pass. He makes his quickest pass today and he will stay in the number 11 spot.

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 7.913/83.65, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.923/328.62, Was #2
Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 3.884/328.14, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.093/242.58, Was #10

Todd started to lose traction early and clicks it off.

Beckman launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Jack Beckman's incremental times: 60ft-0.866 sec., 330ft-2.229, 660ft-3.145/282.13 mph.

Left Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 7.053/92.91, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.907/327.74, Was #2
Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 4.129/240.89, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.958/308.21, Was #5

Hagan is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

DeJoria was on a good pass until just pass half track when she clicked it off. she will stay in the number five spot.

Beckman will hold on to the number one spot for the first time this year and the 28th time in his career.
