Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

BAYTOWN, Texas - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 33rd annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 3.767/324.20, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.136/132.78, Was #10

Pruett with a good looking pass to get into the top half of the show. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.132, 660ft-3.022/285.83 mph.

Left Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 3.881/256.99, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.437/173.52, Was #10
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.764/269.78, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.170/89.40, Was #14

I appears with another early shut off pass. This is a good looking pass. Justin Ashley's incremental times: 60ft-0.850 sec., 330ft-2.152, 660ft-3.038/285.59 mph.

Kalitta launched hard and was on a great looking pass until around half track when it started mixing up cylinders. Then there was a big bang and quick flash of flames. He still goes to the the number four spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.822 sec., 330ft-2.081, 660ft-2.949/285.53 mph.

Left Lane: Lee Callaway Runs 4.131/224.88, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.322/190.16, Was #11
Right Lane: Doug Foley Runs 5.214/128.24, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.913/301.87, Was #10

Callaway shuts off early, but still makes his quickest pass today.

foley started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.279/186.92, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.812/269.67, Was #8
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.857/261.47, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.802/276.58, Was #7

Langdon started to haze the tires early and clicked it off.

Millican was on a good pass until on the top end when the engine went silent. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.157, 660ft-3.030/289.51 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.724/319.22, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.685/330.07, Was #2
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.741/326.87, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.773/303.64, Was #6

This was a good side-by-side drag race.

Schumacher launched hard and kept it hooked up and he makes another great pass. He will not improve, but makes the quickest pass of the session. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.822 sec., 330ft-2.102, 660ft-2.974/288.03 mph.

Brown kept it hitting on all eight and was right there with Schumacher for the second quickest pass of the session. He moves up the ladder a couple spots. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.135, 660ft-3.005/291.07 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.689/327.90, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.672/327.98, Was #1
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 7.884/97.14, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.701/327.74, Was #3

Steve Torrence launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the quickest pass of the session. He qualifies number one for the third time this season and the 27th time in his career. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.813 sec., 330ft-2.095, 660ft-2.958/292.52 mph. Steve will have a bye in round one.

Billy Torrence's car went silent right at the hit and he will start from the number three spot.
