Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Final Session

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 51st annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Jonathan Gray Runs 5.878/249.95, Now #4; No Prior Run

Gray's run was DQ'ed last night, so he is not in the show. He launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number four spot. Jonathan Gray's incremental times: 60ft-1.027 sec., 330ft-2.665, 660ft-3.919/198.29 mph, 1,000ft-4.980.

Left Lane: Brandon Pesz Runs 6.129/210.28, Now #13; Best prior run: 10.414/83.94, Was #16
Right Lane: Tommy Daprile Runs 5.912/244.03, Now #8; No Prior Run

Pesz was on a good pass until it popped on the top end, but he gets off the bump spot.

D'aprile had problems yesterday and was pushed off the starting line. He is straight down the groove to get into the top half of the show. Tommy Daprile's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.607, 660ft-3.891/193.07 mph, 1,000ft-4.987.

Left Lane: Kris Thorne Runs 6.003/253.61, Now #11; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Jason Scruggs Runs 8.399/113.67, Now #18; No Prior Run

Thorne kept it hooked up to get in the show.

Scruggs overpowered the track and got real close to the centerline before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Jeff Jones Runs 7.042/178.17, Now #17; Best prior run: 9.784/90.43, Was #19
Right Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 6.037/244.69, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.863/127.20, Was #17

Jones starts to lose traction and pedals it, he can't get it to stick and clicks it off.

Tutterow started to spin and pedal it and got it to hook up get in the show.

Left Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 5.867/242.45, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.591/30.34, Was #18
Right Lane: Doug Winters Runs 5.979/241.37, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.028/240.89, Was #13

Satterfield launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number three spot. Clint Satterfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.565, 660ft-3.842/192.91 mph, 1,000ft-4.939.

Winters with his quickest pass and moves up the ladder one spot. Doug Winters' incremental times: 60ft-1.011 sec., 330ft-2.650, 660ft-3.948/191.40 mph, 1,000ft-5.050.

Left Lane: Steve Jackson Runs 5.851/246.62, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.482/215.96, Was #17
Right Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 5.944/247.52, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.974/241.58, Was #11

Jackson starts to drift toward the centerline, but stays with it to go to the number two spot. Steve Jackson's incremental times: 60ft-0.969 sec., 330ft-2.597, 660ft-3.857/194.88 mph, 1,000ft-4.940.

Matusek with his quickest pass, but gets bumped back a spot by Jackson. Steve Matusek's incremental times: 60ft-1.036 sec., 330ft-2.670, 660ft-3.950/194.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.033.

Left Lane: Justin Jones Runs 6.602/224.62, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.021/199.91, Was #15
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.866/249.63, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.920/248.52, Was #11

Jones started to get loose and pedaled it.

Smith was straight down the groove to go to the number four spot. Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.011 sec., 330ft-2.649, 660ft-3.904/198.50 mph, 1,000ft-4.967.

Left Lane: Jim Whiteley Runs 5.866/244.56, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.893/243.85, Was #10
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 12.488/62.91, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.889/246.26, Was #9

Whiteley kept it hooked up to move into the top half of the show. Jim Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.580, 660ft-3.857/193.82 mph, 1,000ft-4.946.

alBalooshi with problems on the burnout and then he has starts to lose traction right at the hit and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Mike Janis No Time, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.861/244.07, Was #3
Right Lane: Jeffery Barker Runs 8.503/111.68, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.885/249.95, Was #9

Janis' car died at the end of his burnout, he was pushed back to the starting line, but can't get the car to fire.

Barker is real loose early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Brandon Snider Runs 10.594/80.48, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.813/246.66, Was #1
Right Lane: Chad Green Runs 5.867/249.35, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.874/246.80, Was #7

Snider lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off. He holds on to the number one spot. This is his first career number one spot.

Green is straight down the groove to move up the ladder one spot. Chad Green's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.640, 660ft-3.899/196.79 mph, 1,000ft-4.966.
