Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #1

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 51st annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Doug Winters Runs 6.028/240.89, Now #1

Winters started to get loose early, but got it to hook up.

Left Lane: Tommy Daprile No Time, Now #3
Right Lane: Brandon Pesz Runs 10.414/83.94, Now #2

D'aprile couldn't get the car to fire last night.

Pesz with tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.920/248.52, Now #1
Right Lane: Justin Jones Runs 6.021/199.91, Now #2

Smith kept it hooked up...Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.010 sec., 330ft-2.685, 660ft-3.949/197.22 mph, 1,000ft-5.016.

Jones with a clean pass.

Left Lane: Jeffery Barker Runs 5.885/249.95, Now #1
Right Lane: Jim Whiteley Runs 5.893/243.85, Now #2

This is good side-by-side drag race.

Barker kept it hooked up and in the groove to go to the number one spot. Jeffery Barker's incremental times: 60ft-1.007 sec., 330ft-2.670, 660ft-3.920/197.16 mph, 1,000ft-4.986.

Whiteley was right there with him.

Left Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 5.974/241.58, Now #4
Right Lane: Jeff Jones Runs 9.784/90.43, Now #7

Matusek with a clean pass to start the weekend.

Jones was loose early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 7.863/127.20, Now #8
Right Lane: Brandon Snider Runs 5.813/246.66, Now #1

Tutterow started to get loose around 330 and clicked it off.

Snider kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Brandon Snider's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.556, 660ft-3.821/195.73 mph, 1,000ft-4.900.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 5.889/246.26, Now #3
Right Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 7.591/30.34, Now #9

alBalooshi with a clean pass to go to the number three spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.619, 660ft-3.884/193.49 mph, 1,000ft-4.974.

Satterfield was loose early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Jason Scruggs No Time, Now #15
Right Lane: Mike Janis Runs 5.861/244.07, Now #2

Scruggs was shut off after the burnout.

Janis was straight down the groove to the number two spot. Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.602, 660ft-3.867/195.73 mph, 1,000ft-4.946.

Left Lane: Chad Green Runs 5.874/246.80, Now #3
Right Lane: Kris Thorne Runs 10.297/94.07, Now #14

Green kept it hitting on all eight all the way down the quarter-mile to go to the number three spot. Chad Green's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.646, 660ft-3.897/196.13 mph, 1,000ft-4.967.

Thorne with tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Jonathan Gray Runs 5.900/248.89, Now #7
Right Lane: Steve Jackson Runs 6.482/215.96, Now #12

Gray started to lose traction on the top end and clicked it off.

Jackson starting to lose traction and clicked it off.
