Top Fuel Round 2 Eliminations

BROWNSBURG, Ind. - Results of round 2 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Inaugural Lucas Oil NHRA Summernationals at Indianapolis:

Weather conditions: air temperature 88 degrees, relative humidity 64 percent, barometer 29.00 inches, adjusted altitude 4,062 feet, track temperature 110 degrees.

Antron Brown beat Terry McMillen in the first round here last week and in the first round at Phoenix this year.

Brown is 22 - 5 against McMillen in prior events.

McMillen with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He runs his fastest pass of the weekend for the win.

Brown slowed on the top end in the losing effort.

That was just the second round win in Top Fuel for Todd Paton. Over the past 115 races this was just the 10th time that the No. 16 qualifier in Top Fuel has won an opening round match.

This is the first time Zizzo and Paton have faced each other in eliminations.

Zizzo with the starting line advantage and is straight down the groove for the win. zizzo will give up lane choice to McMillen in the semifinal.

Paton dropped a bunch of cylinders right at the hit and clicked it off.

Doug Kalitta is 2 - 0 against Justin Ashley. Justin is 1 of 46 drivers who have faced Doug in eliminations and never beaten him.

Ashley with the slight starting line advantage and he never trailed for the win. Justin Ashley's MOV: 0.0259 seconds (approximately 12 feet). Ashley was mixing up cylinders on the top end and appeared to push out a head gasket, but held on for the win. He still runs his quickest pass of the weekend for the win.

Kalitta was mixing up cylinders on the top end.

Billy Torrence's win in round one was the third holeshot win of his career and the second this year. His other holeshot win this year was against Leah Pruett, his opponent this round.

Torrence is 3 - 1 against Pruett in prior events.

Pruett with the starting line advantage and the power to hold on for the win. This was a close one as Pruett's car was mixing up cylinders and pitched the blower belt as she crossed the finish line. Pruett will give up lane choice to Ashley by 0.007 seconds in the semifinal. Leah Pruett's MOV: 0.0117 seconds (approximately 5 feet).

Torrence with the quickest pass of the round in the losing effort. He apparently was using up his engine as the Safety Safari rolls. Billy Torrence was charged with an oildown, #1 for the season. That will cost 5 points.
